Travis Joseph Meinolf is internationally known as a weaver. Working on his loom at home in Lagunitas, CA, Travis produces both fine art and short runs of fabric for interiors. He also designs and ships small, easily portable looms worldwide as part of an ongoing project through which he aims to promote and preserve weaving traditions. Through workshops, public demonstrations, and online tutorials, he shares the craft of weaving and teaches about everything from basic string structures to the labor/leisure tradeoff and benefits of domestic production. Travis maintains ongoing collaborations with artist Kai Althoff and AA Bronson, and his work has been shown in exhibitions at the Whitney Biennal, Art Basel, SFMOMA, Berkeley Art Museum, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and more. He received his BFA in Industrial Design from San Francisco State University and his MFA in Fine Art from California College of the Arts, both in San Francisco, CA.
For Workshop Residence, Travis designed a loom kit perfect for amateur enthusiasts and experienced textile designers interested in weaving on-the-go!
