Brittany Ransom is an artist & technologist living in Southern California, where she works as the Assistant Professor of Sculpture & New Genres at California State University, Long Beach. Brittany has received several competitive awards & grants including The Arctic Circle Research Residency (2014), University Research Council & Instructional Technology Grant Awards (2013-2014), & the College Art Association Professional Development Fellowship (2011). Since having received her MFA in Electronic Visualization from University of Illinois at Chicago & BFA with a focus in Art & Technology from The Ohio State University, Brittany has presented her work nationally & internationally. She specializes in computerized production, digital fabrication, physical computing, & kinetics.
During her Summer 2016 residency at Workshop Residence, Brittany designed & fabricated a series of molded rubber dog toy prototypes. She ultimately intends to embed these dog toys with remotely controllable digital components, which can be activated in different ways for training purposes.
