Brittany Ransom is an artist and technologist living in Southern California, where she works as the Assistant Professor of Sculpture & New Genres at California State University, Long Beach. Brittany has received several competitive awards and grants including The Arctic Circle Research Residency (2014), University Research Council and Instructional Technology Grant Awards (2013-2014), and the College Art Association Professional Development Fellowship (2011). Since having received her MFA in Electronic Visualization from University of Illinois at Chicago and BFA with a focus in Art & Technology from The Ohio State University, Brittany has presented her work internationally and nationally. She specializes in computerized production, digital fabrication, physical computing, and kinetics.
For Workshop Residence, Brittany is designing and fabricating a series of molded rubber dog toys, some of which will be embedded with remotely controllable digital components, which can be activated in different ways for training purposes.
