About Bari
Bari Ziperstein (a.k.a. Zippy) is a multidisciplinary artist and the founding designer behind BZIPPY & CO, the company through which she creates unique editions of slab-built ceramic vases, planters, and lamps. Born in Chicago, she was raised by design collectors and architecture enthusiasts, traveling with her family across the country in pursuit of the ideal Bakelite radio, boomerang lamp, or mid-century ceramic cookie jar. Bari received her BFA in Painting and a Certificate in Women's Studies from Ohio University (2000) and her MFA from California Institute of the Arts (2004). Bari's work has been exhibited in national and international group and solo exhibitions, and has been reviewed in Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Vogue, and Flash Art among others. Recent exhibitions include Vision in Motion at Curator's Cube in Tokyo, Japan and Sight Unseen OFFSITE in New York. Since 2006, she has taught a range of sculpture, ceramics, and lecture courses at institutions such as CalArts, University of California, San Diego, and University of California, Riverside. Bari lives and works in Los Angeles with her home-brewer and aerospace engineer husband and their toddler, Lawrence.
For Workshop Residence, Bari facilitated a "Clay & Rope" workshop and created a series of unique slab-built ceramic vases finished in cobalt blue, white, and metallic glazes.
