Congratulations to Christine Lee, winner of our first open call competition!

Christine is a sculptor, furniture maker, and installation artist who has worked with the USDA Forest Service Forest Products Laboratory to develop an innovative and non toxic panel board. She proposed making furniture and other products with it at Workshop Residence this August.

Ann, Braden, and Katie

Christine's boards are made without toxins, using only recycled fiber, wood, water, heat, and pressure.
Her residency will investigate a wide range of applications for the material--from replacing MDF or Particleboard, to showcasing the inherent beauty of the fiber when used in everyday products.
We sincerely thank everyone who submitted a proposal-- we received over 150 submissions!  There was much deliberation and it was not an easy decision for our jury to make.  Click here to review the proposals and see the finalists.
